My kids are so cute

Willon breaks the rules on the trampoline. Can you spot him crawling around the outside? He's a good climber, isn't he?

Rhetta learns how to jump on the big trampoline from some big girls. By the following day she could bounce off her behind and land back on her feet.

Willon got to ride a train at Gage Park in Topeka, KS. He had to wave bye-bye to everyone we passed. I am sure the entire park could hear him.

Rhetta learned how to use a knife and fork together. The look on her face when the fry won't stay on her plate is priceless. ♥

Chicken Coop

Hard to believe it took a year but it did! Now we have chickies and they are happy in their new digs. The kids are extremely happy, too. I simply cannot WAIT for fresh eggs this fall.

Ode de Toad

I never saw a purple toad
I hope I never see one,
But I can tell you this right now:
I'd rather see than be one.

Ah yes, I wrote "The Purple Toad"
I'm Sorry now I wrote it
But I can tell you Anyhow
I'll Kill you if you Quote it!

Sorry Ogden Nash!

I found this little guy (girl?) hanging around my rock garden. Turns out he (she?) lives in there under the rock overhang. Later in the afternoon I found him (her?) under the succulant in a nice cool, damp spot. We caught him and I let the kids pet him (her?) which made them giggle like crazy. I let ol' Toady go and she's (he?) quite comfortable in and among the flowers and rocks.

Love of the Stage

Rhetta can't get her recital off her mind. One side of the easel is a closed curtain. The other side is her on stage with the curtain open. Funny, before the recital it meant carrying her to the car to take her to dance class. Now that it's over for the summer she wants more! That's my kid!

Rhetta's Dance Debut

She was so very pleased with the performance she woke up the following day, still in her dance costume clutching her dance shoes and was out the door and ready to get in the truck to do it all over again. Too cute for words.

In the video she is the very tall one just left of center in the back row. It was all very cute, of course, and she was the best. I only wish they could have done more than one.

Our Longest Conversation to Date

This morning Rhetta lay in her bed after I woke her for school. I asked her:

"What do you want for breakfast?"... no answer...

Me: Do you want oatmeal or scrambled eggs?

Her: No.

Me: Do you want Rice Chex with milk?

Her: No.

Me: Do you want rice cereal with milk?

Her: That's not right.

Me: Do you want toast with peanut butter?

Her: Toast!

Me: With peanut butter?

Her: Toast with peanut butter.

Me: What about jelly?

Her: (huge grin) Yeah! Jelly!

Me: So, you want toast with peanut butter and jelly?

Her: You got it right!
