7 Days 2010 Day 7 Fe Fi Fo Fum

Photobucket

They are raffling off this dollhouse at the children's museum where I volunteer. It's a beautiful replica of the one Amy Carter had at the White House in 1976. I bought 25 tickets although I have no clue where I would put it if I win. I would have to add on a special room.

I'm kinda proud of the double reflection. If I had a real camera I could focus this would have been a golden shot.

Those Two

Willon (age 3): Rhetta! when I was your age I rode a SCHOOL bus.

Rhetta (age 7): Willon! You're not my age, you're my brother!

7 Days Autumn 2010 Day 5 (Theme: New) New Ideas

Photobucket

I'm always trying to think of something new I can make and sell. Here I am in my corner (a temporary spot while my studio is being remodeled - fancy word for new drywall and paint) surrounded by my new sewing machine and some new projects: the new tote bag design (yet to be sewn), bead kits for the kids (newest idea yet), and a new spin on an old idea - cheerleader ornaments using those colors similar to a certain team that I'm not allowed to use without permission so hush until I get the call back from the licensing firm, 'K?)

7 Days Autumn 2010 Day 4 75¢ Find

Photobucket

I was toying with doing a reflection of some kind when found this cool concave mirror at a yard sale this weekend. I tried and tried to get the reflection in focus instead of the mirror but I don't think you can do that in this dimension (nerd joke). About the mirror, I am certain it is antique. It has a B&L mark on it (see note or have fun looking for it) which I think stands for Baucsh & Lomb. Maybe it came from a large microscope or a telescope. Possibly a camera? What do you think?

7 Days Autumn 2010 Day 3 Well Hell

Photobucket

I was trying to get a shot of myself putting in the last of my bargain perennials when I freaking fell over! So, there ya go.

7 Days Autumn 2010 Day 2 (Theme: Old) As Old as it Gets

Photobucket

I collect rocks. I collect very big rocks, mainly. This one I'm pointing at with my nudie toe was formed when the earth took shape. It is 1.7 billion years old. Yup, that's pretty much as old as it gets in Colorado.

FYI: This particular Precambrian rock is gneiss, a metamorphic rock that used to be sedimentary rock.

Also FYI: There are older rocks to be found in Canada and Australia. If anyone would like to bring one of them to me I would be eternally grateful. kthxbai.

L'heure Bleue

This my favorite time of the morning for many reasons. It's quiet, for one. It's beautiful and peaceful, too. It's also when my kids wake and join me in the big bed for nu-nu, cuddles, giggles or - although rarely - a little extra sleep.

This morning my sweetie boy came to me at the very hint of the blue hour. After much snuggling and fending off Kit Kat (she likes to attack his feet through the covers) we settled down to a nice, warm, restful, quiet doze.

Just as I was drifting back to sleep he emerged from under the covers and whispered to me, "Momma". He'll put his mouth on my ear to tell me secrets. This seemed be one of those. "Psst! Momma!"

He took my face in his hands and turned my head to face him on the pillow and whispered, "Momma, the goose-duck made a stoooory. It said, 'Rub-dub-dub. Three men in a PANCAKE!'" then crawled back under the covers snickering.

7 Days Autumn 2010 Day 1 September

Photobucket

We went for a drive this afternoon to the West Elk mountains to check out the beginnings of fall color. I shot this stretch of road a bit while the kiddos played in a nearby stream with Daddy. Oh my, how I love September!

Willon and his Block Train

Willon has been building with blocks once in awhile. His favorite pastime is taking things apart, of course, but constructing things is coming along. Here he is explaining his first unassisted creation.
